Granting Wishes this Holiday

By wix_n_stix

Jennifer Allen wants to make this Christmas very special for some area families.

Allen, 34, of Leesburg, an independent demonstrator for Gold Canyon, will donate 100 percent of her commission from selling the company’s Candles for Kids line to low-income families.

Gold Canyon Candles, based in Chandler, Ariz., sells an array of candles and home decor products. The company donates all of its profits from its Candles for Kids line to its nonprofit Pray Child Foundation. The foundation awards grants of $1,000 to children 18 and younger who are physically and emotionally challenged.

The kids line candles, which come in four different fragrances, are $17.48 each, and Allen makes about $4.37 from every candle she sells.

Her goal is to sell 1,000 candles by the end of the year. Then she will choose area families to receive anonymous donations.

“I am looking to do this for single parents who are struggling to make ends meet,” Allen said. “It’s something that really touches my heart.”
