Karate Students Kick Over 51,0

Sterling, Virginia. August 8, 2009 At a sponsored Kick-A-Thon to raise money for hunger, karate students at World Champion Jeff Smith’s Mile High Karate kick over 51,000 times in four hours!
August 8th, 2009, Mile High Karate Students in Sterling, Virginia gathered together with one common goal: to help “kick hunger”. The karate school partnered with LINK, a local hunger shelter in the area, to provide funds to continue to help local Students collected donations and sponsors and set the goal- 25,000 kicks to raise money for the hungry in the area.
The Kick-A-Thon was a wild success as students of all ages, from six years old to sixty, worked for the cause. The second-place kicker was a seven-year-old blue belt who raised nearly $500 by herself to provide for LINK, a food shelter in the area.
“We knew we were going to do our best- but we had no idea what our best could be! 51,000 kicks in 4 hours- 200 kicks a minute! That’s just amazing!” said Sean Smith, Head Instructor for the Sterling School.
