Winners of the Business Plan Competition
The Loudoun Small Business Development Center held its first Business Plan Competition Oct. 22, for businesses two years old and younger. In the first round, 13 small businesses gave a 30-second elevator speech. After the first round of eliminations, the remaining eight contestants presented their business models to a panel of judges that included bankers, accountants and attorneys. The panel determined which businesses were worth investing in, and local companies with the best business models were awarded.

Third: Rebecca L. Harris and Scott E. Harris, Catoctin Creek Distilling Co.
Fourth: Bridget Thibodeau-Sasso, Il Pioppo
