County records volley sweep on senior night

The Loudoun County Raiders' volleyball team celebrated their senior players by taking down Potomac Falls 25-16, 25-8, 25-14 on Oct. 27 in Leesburg.

Playing their final regular season match at home, the Raiders honored a senior class that has won three Dulles District regular season championships, three Dulles tournament titles, three Region II crowns and two AA Virginia championships with an overall record of 100-6.

Leading the way Monday night for County were seniors Emily Vandegrift (7 kills, 4 digs), Juliane Hanna (6 kills, 11 digs, 4 aces, 4 points), Robin Marsala (18 assists, 6 digs, 4 kills, 3 points), Molly Baldwin (6 kills, 4 blocks, 4 digs, 4 points) and Hannah Arnold (17 points, 9 digs, 3 aces).  

Other Raider contributors included Jenna Strange (5 kills, 3 digs), Kathleen Horvath (2 kills, 2 digs), Gabby Serafin (3 digs), Erin Dancy (2 kills, 1 block), Colleen Bowlds (10 assists, 4 points, 3 digs, 2 points), Sammy Dormio (10 points, 4 aces), Rachel Arigo (1 kill, 1 block) and Allie Cain (1 kill, 1 dig).
 
The Raiders improved to 10-1 in the Dulles, 17-2 overall on the season. County's JV (16-2) and freshmen (15-0) teams also swept their matches Monday. The Raiders will play at Broad Run Thursday at 7 p.m. as both teams vie for the district regular season championship.
