Practicing their civic rights

Marvin Sanchez, a fifth-grader at Potowmack Elementary School in Sterling, casts his ballot online Oct. 26 during a mock governor's election at the school. Marvin, 10, said he voted for Democrat R. Creigh Deeds because 'he's saving energy and helping the environment, and I think it's important that we don't cut down trees.' Fourth-grader Skylar Weisenfluh, 9, said she voted for Republican Bob McDonnell because 'he won't raise taxes, and for some people it's kind of a hard time right now and if they raise taxes it could be harder.'
