It's your chance to get involved
On Nov. 3, one of the country's true privileges takes place when it's time to vote. You may have already exercised that right in early voting. If so, thank you.Like any election campaign season, we can't wait until this one ends. Civility in politics is a lost art, and that's unfortunate.
The folks who could make a real difference in this election are the majority of registered voters who become frustrated and choose to bypass Election Day. Voter apathy has made its mark on Loudoun over the past few years -- the exception being last year's national election. If 30 percent or even 40 percent of those people who are registered would get off their fannies and go to the polls, it would stun the politicians and pundits.
There are many decent candidates this year with a sense of community and public service. Nov. 3 is your chance to help choose the direction Loudoun will take over the next few years.
Do the unexpected. Take control of your county. Cast your vote and choose the individuals you believe will best represent us in statewide and district-wide positions. It's your responsibility to get involved in government.
Polling stations are open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. If you're not sure where to vote, check your voter registration card or call 703-777-0380.

Once again, less than 40% of those who are eligible bothered to vote. Nice going Loudoun County. You get the government you deserve.
