Creighton Farms ranks among top new golf courses
Creighton Farms, a private golf course near Aldie, ranked eighth in Golfweek magazine's annual ranking of best new golf courses, Oct. 17.
Golfweek defines new courses as those that have opened in the past two years. The list of top 40 span the nation, but Creighton Farms is the only Virginia course to land on the list.
Professional golfer Jack Nicklaus designed the Creighton Farms course, which opened in April 2008. When he visited Sept. 30, he called the course “aesthetically pleasing and an environmentally sensitive course,” which requires a “good deal of thinking” to play.
"The ranking is a testament to the outstanding talent of Jack Nicklaus' design team and the superb skill of our grounds maintenance team, headed by director of agronomy, Jeff Webster," said Tim Cole, managing director Creighton Farms.
Creighton Farms earned the Best New Courses in 2008 ranking by Golf Digest, Golf Magazine and Travel+Leisure Golf its opening year. The course measures 7,410 yards, winding by a creek, mature trees and meadows that once served as hunting grounds.

Does this course drain it's poisons into Goose Creek too? Alas, poor Chesapeake Bay.
