18th annual Charity Auction and Dinner

*The Dulles Area Association of Realtors is hosting its 18th annual Charity Auction and Dinner Nov. 6, 6-10 p.m. at River Creek Country Club. The event is open to DAAR members and the public. Proceeds will benefit the Good Shepherd's Alliance, Loudoun Abused Women's Shelter, Loudoun Cares, Loudoun Families for Children, Rebuilding Together Volunteers of America – Transitional Housing Shelter and the VA Emergency Homeless Shelters. The 2008 auction yielded $32,000.

* DAAR will host a 2009 Economic Summit and annual meeting Friday, Oct. 30, from 8 a.m. to 11:30 p.m., at the Loudoun County School Administration Building in Ashburn. A panel of experts will discuss national, regional and local market trends and projections for 2010 and in the future. The keynote speakers are John McClain, senior fellow, George Mason University's Center for Regional Analysis, Greg Stratton, research economist, National Association of Realtors, and Rosemary deButts, DAAR's Housing Market consultant. Appraisal course


The Appraisal Foundation and CompuTaught, a leading developer of computer-based real estate education and part of Cengage Learning, have released an online version of the Appraisal Foundation’s seven-hour national Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice update course and instructor re-certification course. All Virginia-licensed or certified real property appraisers must take the seven-hour national USPAP update course, or its equivalent, every two years.
