Fields of Athenry Farm, near Middleburg, offers healthy, free-range turkeys that grew up foraging for the best bugs, berries, nuts and pasture along the banks of the Little River. Ayrshire Farm heritage-breed turkeys can be reserved for Thanksgiving-week pickup with a $50 deposit. The Bourbon Red, Bronze and Midget Whites are certified organic and humanely raised and handled, having grown up on an all-vegetable organic feed and pasture. Brined birds will be ready for Thanksgiving tables at weights from 7 to 20 pounds, and prices range from $95 for the smallest to $225 for the largest. Pickup is at Home Farm in Middleburg.
