Sports center hosts grand opening
The public is invited to the grand opening of Purcellville's new state-of-the-art sports center Nov. 7. The Purcellville Sports Pavilion, an extensive fitness and sports facility, offers fitness programs, strength and cardio training machines, yoga and Pilates classes, as well as one of the few high-tech indoor team sports fields in Northern Virginia.
“I had a dream for a different kind of fitness club, something beyond anything that had been tried in this area,” said Magic Kayhan, owner of the 30,000-square-foot facility.
At noon, Purcellville Mayor Bob Lazaro and the town council will cut the ribbon to officially open the facility, which has been in operation since September. Soon after, they will dedicate the new indoor sports field in memory of Spc. Stephan Lee Mace, who died in Afghanistan last month. Mace grew up in Purcellville, attended school there and loved sports. The field will be known as the Stephan Lee Mace Memorial Field.
Saturday's grand opening includes guided tours of the facility, demonstrations of weight and fitness machines, and information booths from local businesses. Anyone who visits can register for the Everybody Wins Sweepstakes -- club prizes ranging from five days of free fitness to a year membership for training.
