Free week of fitness for mommies

Mommy Bootcamp – motto "Be all the mommy you can be!" -- is offering a free week Nov. 9-14 in its Get Fit for the Holidays campaign. Moms can come to any of three locations for comprehensive workouts that include cardio drills, strength training and core exercises with abdominal work.

"Even though it's called boot camp, we don't want them to be intimidated," owner and instructor Kathy Corbey said. "The classes are all led by moms who are fitness instructors."

Moms of all fitness levels can exercise alone or can bring babies and toddlers with them to class. The little ones are not incorporated into the exercises: "We found it was hard to put them back down after the moms pick them up," Corbey said, "but we do things to keep them happy, like we'll do peekaboo squats."

After mom's class, the children get their turn at some fun just for them, running around and chasing colorful balls.

Class times and locations:
• Dulles Sportsplex (21610 Atlantic Blvd., near Dulles Town Center, Sterling), every weekday at 10:15 a.m.
• Dulles Town Center, in front of Lord and Taylor on the upper level, on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday at 9 a.m. Shy moms don't have to worry about being seen by shoppers -- it's before the stores open. The Saturday classes here are open to the whole family -- dads too. The best place to park for this class is between Macy's and Lord and Taylor.
• Chantilly at The Box Inline Hockey Arena, 3933 Avion Park Court at 10 a.m. weekdays except Wednesday.
No registration is required for the classes. For more information, visit www.mommybootcamp.org or call 571-214-MOMS (6667).
