Briefs: Nov. 3
Park View High School will host Veterans Night at its last home football game Nov. 6 against Freedom. All Veterans will be admitted free to the game and will be recognized on the field prior in a ceremony beginning at 7:15 p.m.
Park View English teacher George Barton, a combat veteran having served in Vietnam, will be an honorary captain.
Charity run/walk
Leesburg Parks and Recreation Department, in partnership with Loudoun Interfaith Relief, is hosting the seventh annual Freeze Your Gizzard Cross Country 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run Nov. 21 at 9 a.m. in the front field of Ida Lee Park.
The entry fee for preregistration is $20 for the 5K, $10 for the 1 mile -- add $5 for registration on race day -- plus two cans of food to be brought the day of the event. Canned food will be donated to Loudoun Interfaith Relief’s food bank. All ages are welcome.

Track and field
Special Forces Unlimited will hold winter orientation meetings to answer questions related to winter training, clinics and the track program.
Meetings are Nov. 7, 9 a.m. at the Purcellville Sportsplex; Nov. 8 and Nov. 15, 2:30 p.m. at the Herndon Clocktower Gold's Gym; and Nov. 8 and Nov. 15, 6:30 p.m. at the National Conference Center's main ballroom center.

Grand opening
The Purcellville Sports Pavilion, at 310 N. 21st St., will hold its grand opening Nov. 7, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The pavilion will sponsor indoor soccer and lacrosse leagues this winter as well as baseball training sessions. Stop by the pavilion and find out about its range of training programs; as well as registration information for winter leagues.
