Donate candy for the troops
Rotten teeth don't look good on little trick-or-treaters. Here are two venues kids can donate their treats and save their teeth.
*Cascades Center for Dental Health in Sterling, will pay kids for their Halloween candy – which it will then send to troops overseas – Nov. 2 from 3 to 7 p.m. Kids will can $1 per pound. Every donation also enters the child into a drawing for a free iPod. All candy will be shipped overseas to troops serving in Afghanistan and Iraq. Dentist Shreyesh Ruparelia calls this "a win-win for everyone. Kids can eat a little less candy and do something great for the troops." Dr. Ruparelia can be reached at Cascades Dental, the site of the candy dropoff at 46032 McClellan Way, Sterling. Call 703-444-5095.
*NOVA Pediatric Dentistry & Orthodontics and Go Bananas toy store will host the Great Candy Buy-Back Nov. 2-6, which also will benefit troops overseas. Dr. Valerie Woo & Dr. Courtney Ullrich will buy back your Halloween candy for $1 per pound. Each child who participates will also receive Banana Bucks from Go Bananas toy store. Take candy to Dr. Woo’s office at 21785 Filigree Court, Suite 208 in Ashburn. All candy will be donated to Operation Gratitude and distributed to men and women serving our country. Dr. Woo will match the amount paid to patients and donate it to Autism Speaks. For more information, call 703-729-7005.
