Fire displaces Ashburn family

Five people were displaced from their Ashburn home July 1 after a morning fire.
Loudoun County Fire-Rescue crews were called to the townhouse on Hedgerow Terrace just before 9 a.m., spokesman Dustin Sternbeck said.
Several of the home's residents were there at the time and were able to safely evacuate. They also were able to tell their neighbors to evacuate, Sternbeck said.
Crews were able to initiate an attack from inside of the house and prevent damage to neighboring townhouses, Sternbeck said.
Crews remained on the scene for three hours to complete salvage and overhaul, Sternbeck said.
While no civilians were injured in the blaze, a firefighter suffered a cut to the hand. He was treated at the scene, Sternbeck said.
The family that was displaced is arranging for temporary housing through the American Red Cross, Sternbeck said.
The Loudoun County Fire Marshal's Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
