PGA week in Loudoun

Two PGA Tour pros and a golfing legend will make stops in Loudoun County next week.

Steve Marino of nearby Fairfax County and Johnson Wagner will join local golfers Sept. 28 during the fourth annual TMA Charity Golf Tournament at Donald Trump's Trump National Golf Club at Lowes Island.

The event is private, and sponsorships are filled, according to event organizers.

No, word is that The Donald will not be making an appearance at Lowe's Island.

Marino has three top 10 finishes this season. His best 2009 placing was a second at the Crowne Plaza Invitational in Fort Worth, Texas. Marino, a graduate of the University of Virginia, has yet to win a PGA Tour event.

Wagner recorded his first PGA Tour title last year at the Shell Houston Open. The Virginia Tech grad earned his PGA Tour card in 2007, after winning twice on the Nationwide Tour.

The two pros will join each foursome on two separate holes, each hitting a tee shot. Tourney proceeds will benefit Children's National Medical Center. More than $70,000 was raised last year.

Then, at midweek, another big name will be coming to Loudoun for a media-only event. Visit www.LoudounTimes.com Oct. 2 for the weekly LTM Live videocast to find out how this Hall of Famer is enjoying retirement. Who is he? Well, the first letters of this great's two-word nickname are “G and B.”
