The Common Ground Church Purpose is to Help People Live Fully

Purpose

By Pastor Sal D’Agostino

Jesus wants us to live fully. Our purpose is to help people live fully. To live fully isn’t to have more stuff, money, popularity, position, power or the like rather it’s to live our lives the way God created us to live. Jesus summed up living fully in two statements: love God and love people.  Jesus also said that we experience this life as we learn, live, and love. To learn is to figure out what loving God and people looks like. To live is to apply what we have learned to our lives. To love is to give to others the life we have experienced. At Common Ground we want people to live fully by helping them LEARN-LIVE-LOVE.

Common Ground is actively seeking and providing opportunities for people to serve their community by giving away love and life. We do this through love projects. We continually encourage each other to serve the community as individuals, in community groups, and as a church community. Consider connecting with us by serving our community. I’m writing to let you know about a love project our church is coordinating called 100 BROWN BAGS.

The goal of this project is to collect at least 100 bags of groceries between October 4th and November 21st. The idea is for each person to commit to fill at least one bag and invite one other person to fill at least another bag. The food will be delivered to Loudoun Interfaith Relief here in Leesburg to help those in need during the holiday season. As a church community we’re committing to raise some bags but we’re also looking to have the community join us in this endeavor.  We’re hoping this project, and all of our love projects, will be an expression of love to God because we know He takes pleasure in seeing us love one another. Of course Jesus said we should let our good deeds shine before men so He would be glorified.
