Sterling Substation Work Moves Indoors
The Sheriff's Sterling Substation is expected to provide substantial public safety services to the community and diminish out of sector time by reducing deputy trips to Leesburg. It will also provide a strong law enforcement presence in the most densely populated and culturally diverse area of Loudoun County.
The facility includes a community meeting venue for residents and civic groups and should serve to strengthen the sheriff-community partnership and expand and enhance the community neighborhood watch programs.

Construction on Six Foot High Western Security Wall
The Sterling Substation construction continues to progress throughout the summer months. Bricklayers are feverishly working on the five hundred square foot storage and motorcycle building. Brick work continues on the six foot western security wall looking toward Briar Patch Park. Tradesmen are currently installing ballistic glass windows in the front of the facility. The west entrance and the public parking lot in front of the building along East Frederick Drive are now paved. Interior work has now begun with the steel framing of doors and hallways and soon to be installed holding cell doors.

In an email to the Substation Advisory Board, Captain Ricky Frye stated, “The dry weather over the last 2 months has provided an opportunity for much progress. The contractor is getting very busy as much of the work is moving indoors at the facility. Ceiling drywall work will commence in approximately two to three weeks after some electrical and plumbing inspections are complete. Much of the outside site work is nearing completion and we hope to have all the initial grade of paving completed in one week to ten days. The site work team is actively involved in meetings regarding the future installation of furniture, fixtures, and equipment.”

The 18,000 square foot “state of the art” station is slated to be completed in January 2010 with an open house tentatively planned for March or April. Captain Frye or Lieutenant Brian Harpster attends the contractor “progress meetings” held every two weeks in a trailer located on the east side of the grounds.

At the Sterling construction site, either Captain Frye or Lieutenant Brian Harpster is usually on site daily to monitor the progress at the facility. If you have any questions about the Sterling Substation build status, schedule milestones, or any concerns or issues relevant to this site work, please email Captain Frye @ Ricky.Frye@loudoun.gov, or Brian.Harpster@Loudoun.gov, or call 703-737-8079.
God bless our sheriff's deputies.
