Monroe hosts Middle School Mixer
Monroe Technology Center will hold its annual Middle School Mixer from 6 to 8 p.m. Nov. 4 on the Monroe Technology Center campus.The MTC Middle School Mixer has been planned to offer LCPS sixth-eighth graders:
· Exploration of a variety of new and emerging technological career pathways;
· Mini-demonstrations of MTC programs;
· Student tours of MTC laboratories and workshops.
During the 2007-08 school year, Monroe Technology Center earned the designation of The Loudoun Governor's Career and Technical Academy. This means it's a center for science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). Students graduating from this academy will acquire STEM literacy, skills and credentials that will prepare them for high-demand, high-wage and high-skill careers.
The MTC Governor's Career and Technical Academy will offer new courses including radiology technology, pharmacy technology and medical laboratory technology.

· Auto Collision Repair Technology
· Auto Servicing Technology
· Biotechnology
· Building Construction
· CIED (Computer Integrated Engineering & Design)
· Computer & Digital Animation

· Culinary Arts
· Environmental Plant Sciences
· Firefighter/EMT
· Graphic Communications
· Health and Medical Sciences
· HVAC (Heating, Ventilation & Air Conditioning)
· Laboratory Technology I
· Masonry
· Nail Design
· Pharmacy Technology I
· Practical Nursing
· Radiology Technology I
· TV Production/Digital Moviemaking
· Veterinary Science
· Welding
Dual-enrollment opportunities are now available at MTC through Northern Virginia Community College and Virginia Tech, which provide college credit for course work completed while studying at MTC. Future dual-enrollment and college credit opportunities are currently being explored with other educational partners such as George Washington University and Shenandoah University.
